Most of the time it is extremely hard work to find new and fresh ideas we can use in order to raise the necessary funds we need to keep the Tropics open to care for the birds we have here. Once you stumble across a really great idea, it then becomes a much larger and demanding task to launch the fundraiser and see that you were successful at its conclusion.
This year, as well as last year, the Tropics is very fortunate to be associated with The Parrots At Play Calendar Program, a charitable, volunteer, 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation registered in the State of Massachusetts. The Parrots At Play Corporation was organized for purposes of fund raising to support avian organizations helping birds.
The Parrots At Play Corporation are providing calendars as a fund raising item for 2005. Each month  a different contest winner is featured along with the profile of the parrot and is beautifully laid out. The calendar is a wall calendar style, measuring 11"wide X 17"high.
 Indy is a Severe Macaw and is the Poster Parrot for the 2005 Parrots At Play Calendar. He was rescued in 2002 from humans who maintained him in a small cage with no toys, one over-sized perch, second-hand smoke and junk food. The happy news is that he was adopted in 2003 by caregivers that are giving him good food, love, and a quality of life. You can read his story at www.parrots-at-play.org.
So how do the pictues in the calendars get chosen?
Each month the Parrots at Play calendar features a winning entry from the Annual Photo Contest which is open to all bird lovers. This means that your bird can have a chance to become on of the 12 chosen for 2006. Interested?? Just click Here fro more information.
So how does this work for me and the Tropics?
Each calendar will cost you $16.50 when ordered on-line from The Parrots At Play Corporation. For each calendar ordered, the Tropics will receive $10.00 from The Parrots At Play Corporation. Simple.
