Hi, Mary.
I had hoped to scan in some pictures for you by now, but haven't gotten to it. I will in the near future. Tashi is doing quite well and is a little sweetheart. He's interested in everything and is teaching the other birds words that he knows! He's quite the acrobat and surprised us with his flip-over-and-hang-upside-down strategy for making his way down a perch with branches. He went head over heels to each branch, caught it in his beak, and then flipped over again till he could get his beak around the next branch down. Pretty funny! He's a cuddle bunny and a healthy eater, very content with whatever happens, it seems. I had to go to smaller toys to get him to play with them, but now he seems comfortable chewing everything in his cage, even the bigger ones. He yelled "Bryan, Bryan, Bryan!" one day and then "Hi, guy!" and that made me kind of sad because I thought perhaps he was remembering a former owner that he loved, so I just told him he lived with us now, and that we love him very much and he'll always have a home with us. I don't know what he makes of all the changes in his life. He's pretty cheerful, anyway. One night, I kept getting up to go to the kitchen after we had gone to bed and turned out the lights, and every time I walked from the bedroom to the kitchen past his covered cage, he'd say "Hello!" and when I walked back to the bedroom, he'd say "Bye Bye!" He did this 4 or 5 times. It was pretty funny. Hope you've got a manageable number of birds at this point or that you're able still to find good, adoptive homes. We're sure happy with our boy! Did he ever fly with you? I'd like to take him for a walk around the neighborhood, but am leery because he does have wing feathers.
Take care,
Cynthia
NOTE: DO NOT take your bird (clipped or not) outdoors unless it's in a carrier. A dog or cat can come out of nowhere and spook it and he can be hurt or killed. Also, parrots are fine meals for birds of prey such as owls, hawks, eagles and one could swoop down out of nowhere and take your bird before you know it. Outside time should be supervised in a large cage or flight.
