Another one of our wild caught birds is Gino, an 24 year old, male Moluccan cockatoo. Having shredded his feathers somewhat, prior to his arrival here, he is now in perfect condition, screaming those loud, unusual calls only a wild cockatoo can do.
His owner, a young woman suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, was unable to handle him any longer. Gino's favorite toy is a nylon bristled SCRUB BRUSH. He goes through about one a day, so should you ever wonder if you can help, Gino needs more brushes! Gino, along with Orko, Sweet Pea and others has become important contributors to our outreach programs. He can be loud and playful one moment, and cuddle up in someone's lap the next. We are fortunate to have him. |
