SweetPea
Sweet Pea is a 8 year old Quaker Parrot. She was the first baby bird to be hand fed at the refuge, and she got her name because she is sweet, little and green; just like a sweet pea. What makes her unique is her handicap. Sweet Pea doesn't have eyes. It is not known what caused this unusual occurrence. One of her clutch mates also had a deformity; half of the top beak was missing.
Some of the things that could have caused these handicaps are; improper incubation of the egg by the parent birds (this breeder did not artificially incubate eggs), or inbreeding (either intentional or unaware) of related pairs. Nonetheless, Sweet Pea is a wonder everywhere she goes.
