Trout
This adorable pair of birds were long-term boarders. Trout is a blue crowned conure and his companion, Shakka, is a dusky conure. Their owners were on an anthropological study in Malaysia. "Mom" is the anthropologist, and "Dad" is a medical doctor. They returned from their expedition in the late spring of 1998.
We enjoyed the wonderful personality and intelligence of these two birds. Prior to being placed with us long-term, we did a trial run. Trout and Shakka stayed with us for a month while their "parents" visited Tambopata, an ecotourism area in Peru. The birds did so well while here, that there was no question that they would return here for an elongated stay. I must include that their owners hunted high and low for a suitable place to board their 'babies', and we were the only ones they were satisfied with.
