Dear Mary and John,

I would first like to say thank you for all that you have done for me. The birds we have adopted have brought so much happiness into my home. Steven loves his little green cheek. Daniel and the dusky are almost inseparable. That dusky loves to ride around in Daniels shirt, poking his head out to see what is going on. We have adopted so many wonderful and healthy birds from the tropics. The Goffin cockatoo, is making the bird room his home. I believe he thinks he is the king! He interacts with my Blue Crowns and Quakers. Some of his feathers are beginning to come back in. I believe he is pretty happy and may stop picking all together. The pair of Nanday conures, Thelma and Louise, are doing well. They have adapted to their new home and still love each other so much. They chatter and chatter and love it when I come in to see them. Truth be told, I don’t think I leave that room very much. Freddy the finch started flying in his flight of friends as soon as he came home. He found him a girlfriend and they sing their little hearts out. The half moon, Angel, is one of my closer friends. She will only respond to me, but that is just fine with me. She rides my shoulder all over the house. She gives the sweetest little kisses and when I rub the top of her head she purrs like a little kitten. The Sun conure loves only Cliff. He tries to bite both of the boys but he tolerates me. He has bonded with Cliff and it is really cool to see them together around the house. He has taken a liking to our dusky conure, I always find them in the same cage. They are really cute! Finally, my baby macaw. She has become the light of my life. I have never had the experience to own a Blue and Gold Macaw. It took a little time for her to trust that I was going to be nice to her. Now we cuddle on the couch, hang out in the kitchen and she loves to run around my bed. She comes down from her cage, that she is never in, when I am in the room to see me. She loves to sit and rock in my rocking chair and she lets me give her lots of kisses. Of course I get them back and then some (yuck). One other thing that she does is wave hello and goodbye. I didn’t know she could do that. The Tropics has been a wonderful experience for me. Before I met you and John I was dealing with a lot of depression. Now I can’t wait for the days that I can come out and see all of the birds that are still with you. I love feeding them and it seems to have lifted a lot of my depression. I really enjoy being there talking with you and john, or just standing in the dome watching all of the birds fly around. They know when I come in I always have a little treat for them. I know I probably spoil them. I just want to say that your facility and all of your birds are the best. I don’t think I have even seen any sick birds, only some with strong attitudes. I know how to get around their attitudes though. Take care and keep doing all that you do for the tropics. It truly is a wonderful facility.

Laura
