King Rufus
I wanted to write a testimonial about how THE KING (Rufus) became part of our lives. If one other family can find the joy we have because of our dealings with Mary & John of THE TROPICS, I will feel I made a difference in my life.
Having to leave my adored Blue front parrot of 10 years behind in New York, which broke my heart. After 2 years of moving about between Florida & Georgia, we finally bought a home in Florida and settled in permentally. I decided I was ready for another parrot. My husband, knowing how I missed my other bird, agreed that if I could locate something we could afford, He'd get it for my Christmas gift. The local pet stores & breeders wanted between $800.00- 1000.00 just for the bird. Way too much for us & no guarantee it was healthy. So I decided to look into adoption. Searching the Internet for about a month looking at parrot- rescue & adoption sites. I luckily come upon a site called THE TROPICS@JUNO.COM. Where I met a loving couple who not only rescued & nursed sickly & healthy parrots but also disabled ones! These where my type of folks!
Although they lived in another state approximately a 10 hour drive from us, When they were comfortable that the bird would be taken care of, I was quoted an affordable price, cage INCLUDED. So here we went for a 20 hour round-trip ride to collect Rufus, who after only a week or so, had US doing tricks & chasing HIM around the house as he went on his daily exploration trip. Within the first month, He won not only our hearts, but was best-buds with our two small dogs! He even shared his peanuts with them by tossing them from the cage so they could get them and proceed to chew shells all over the place! NAUGHTY RUFUS!! Enough of that! I could go on & on about The antics of THE KING.
But my relationship with Mary & John of THE TROPICS didn't end there, I still contact them for any questions or advice they can give.
